I was going to make a guitar until the day my left index finger had an impromptu meeting with the spinning blade of my old craftsman. I still have my old Fender, but the finger doesn’t like pressing down hard enough to avoid the buzz anymore.
One of these days I might actually get rich enough for one of those snazzy Saw Stop’s and perhaps I’ll someday pass away with the rest of my hand(s) intact.. That would be swell, eh?
From what I can tell, you can make an electric guitar from almost anything. The type of wood is more critical on an acoustic. The only problem with dense wood is that it adds a lot of weight.

BTW, how would tzalam work with an electric? It’s definitely a hard, solid and heavy wood and takes a beautiful finish especially on the endgrain.
