Woodworking

About

My name is Lawrence and I live in Mount Airy, MD. I am currently working as a mechanical designer. I enjoy creating things. I take pleasure in taking a project completely from start to finish.

Most of the woodworking I do has been on my house and that of my friends. When my wife asked me to stop adding on to the house, I started focusing my energies on building smaller things like furniture. I have had a few people commission me to design and build some pieces for them, but a lot of my projects have been for my church. Someone else supplies the materials, so I can focus more on learning new ways to build things and pay less attention to material costs. This has enabled me to learn and grow, as well as create unique pieces of furniture. When I create a project for myself, I am limited to what my household budget can afford…

I have had some people ask me to show them how to build their own projects. I decided to start this blog to chronicle my projects. Hopefully someone will stumble upon this blog and learn that they can do this stuff too.

A large amount of my projects have been requests for things that I can’t find on the web anywhere. As I design and figure out how to make these things, I try to post the plans and techniques as well. It is always good to have an example to follow, or to at least see mistakes that were made, so you don’t repeat them.

Please feel free to leave questions or comments on the posts. Every project I do is a learning experience and I am completely self-taught. I take on new projects just to learn new things. I am happy to share what I learn along the way, so don’t be afraid to ask me something.

Feel free to shoot me questions or comments by clicking the “Contact me” button on the side bar or by commenting on a post.

Awesome work as usual! Glad to see you are enjoying the art of creating and sculpting. I will have to have you creat some cabinets for me eventually.

Who is a vendor for standard park bench replacement slats? Do you make them?
    Thank you.

Came across your blog searching for “red oak hardwood floor”. Too back we’re all sucked into Facebook. Blogs are more personal and easier to read over time (and less engineered to make people mad at each other). Appreciate you sharing your work!
